The SFCF holds regular conferences where members have the opportunity to meet and discuss their various issues. The three main events of the year are the Annual General Meeting and Conference, usually held in November, a Curriculum Conference held in the Spring Term and the Summer Conference. Other conferences are arranged as required.
At the AGM, senior managers and governors consider Council recommendations for the future direction of the Forum. There is usually a keynote speech from a leading figure from the educational world and reports from the various SFCF committees. The Curriculum Conference considers a range of teaching and learning issues and recently has been considering the ongoing development of the SFBac. The Summer Conference provides a platform to debate some of the big topics affecting the sector. These can range widely across the entire spectrum of a Sixth Form College’s operations, from capital and revenue funding through governance and curriculum to safeguarding and diversity.
